Responsibilities
-Efficiently input financial data from documents such as W-2 forms, 1099 forms, receipts, and invoices into tax software systems.
-Verify the accuracy of data entered and ensure it aligns with supporting documents.
-Organize and maintain physical and electronic records of tax-related documents.
-Collaborate closely with tax professionals to clarify information, seek clarification, and resolve discrepancies.
-Adhere to strict confidentiality policies and handle sensitive financial information with utmost discretion.
-Conduct periodic data quality and integrity checks to identify and rectify any inaccuracies or inconsistencies.
-Assist with other administrative tasks related to tax return preparation, as required.
Requirements
-High school diploma or equivalent; interest in progressing in the accounting or financial planning field is preferred.
-Proven experience in data entry, preferably in a tax or accounting environment.

(Currently Hiring for 2025)
Position Overview
Mindful Tax is seeking detail-oriented Tax Preparation Experts to partner with us on a flexible, remote basis. As a contractor, you will prepare individual and/or business client tax returns leveraging our secure client portal and software. You maintain control over your workflow and communication, ensuring compliance and offering expert guidance to your clients.
This opportunity is ideal for tax professionals who value autonomy, enjoy managing their own client interactions, and are skilled in the latest tax law changes.
Compensation
Clients sourced by Mindful Tax: 50/50 fee split
Clients you bring: Separate/negotiable fee split
We provide: Access to professional tax software, secure client portal for all communications and document exchange
Primary Responsibilities
Exclusively communicate with clients through the Company’s designated portal.
Collect, review, and verify client documents to ensure accurate tax return preparation.
Prepare and e-file federal, state, and local tax returns in compliance with IRS Circular 230 and professional standards.
Provide tax advisory and planning services as agreed in writing with Mindful Tax.
Respond thoroughly to client questions and guidance requests related to tax returns you’ve prepared.
Conduct and document a final review of each tax return (via live or recorded session) prior to submission.
Confirm filing completion to the client and/or Company as required.
Assist with IRS or state audits related to returns you’ve prepared, upon request.
Requirements
Valid PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number)
Background check (required prior to engagement)
Agree to exclusive use of Company-supplied client portal for all communications/files
Notify Company before conducting any work outside the United States
EFIN (Electronic Filing Identification Number) – optional/negotiable
Preferred: Enrolled Agent (EA) designation
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and data security standards
Working Arrangement
Contractors retain control over their work process and hours
All work is performed under a 1099 independent contractor agreement
There is no employer/employee relationship; Mindful Tax will not direct or control your work
